Touring Theatre Productions

The Arab Puppet Theatre Foundation enjoys producing its own theatre pieces. Our productions aim to travel the world both to introduce our style of puppetry to young Arab artists and also to make theatre accessible to everybody.

The Gift

This performance uses the ancient Arabic art of shadow puppetry. A story inspired by true historical events, “The Gift” takes audiences on an enchanting journey back in time to Baghdad in the year 800. In his sumptuous palace, the Abbasid Caliph Harun Al-Rashid hosts emissaries sent by Emperor Charlemagne. As the foreign dignitaries prepare for their long journey back home, the Caliph offers an array of lavish gifts to be sent along, including an albino elephant, known as Abou Al-Abbas. Had the Caliph heard of the German proverb “small gifts preserve friendships”.

This performance is our youngest, it was premiered in Beirut and toured in the UK and UAE.

A Performance Desperately in Need of an Audience

Produced and performed by Arab Puppet Theatre’s full-time team, this fast-paced show was conceived in 2015 and has been touring ever since. It uses comedy and satire to tell a story about migration and has toured cities across the world in countries including Tunisia, Lebanon, Doha, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom.
